The Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (C|HFI) is a professional certification provided by the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (EC-Council.) and focusing on network security investigations.[1]. The certification was developed by Jay Bavisi and Haja Mohideen, founders of the EC-Council with the assistance of an advisory board which included Erik Laykin. The exam is currently in version 3 as of March 2009.
Members holding the CHFI designation are required to re-certify under the program every three years to retain their certification.[2]
The CHFI certification is awarded after successfully passing the exam EC0 312-49 administered by the EC-Council after either self-study or having attended training at an Accredited Training Center (ATC). The exam is administered through Pearson Vue or Prometric Training Centers.
